Black Canyon In The Winter:   D/R/E: ? miles (distance & elevation gain is optional)
Hiking Distance Is The Total Length Of The Hike

The Black Canyon (Lumpy Ridge) hike is an easy and enjoyable hike. You can reach it from the Gem Lake Trailhead. It is also a great place to snowshoe in the winter. Follow the trail and you will view the back of the MacGregor Ranch on the left where you can see cattle grazing. As you continue on the trail along the side of the montane meadows you can see majestic Long's Peak. The rock cliffs on the right of Lumpy Ridge have 25+ routes for rock climbing which are very popular in the summer and fall. You can follow this trail as long as you like, through the forest and up to Lawn Lake Trail which is 8.25 miles away.
