D/R/E: 9.4 miles - 1,215' elevation gain
Hiking Distance Is The Total Length Of The Hike
This hike is a very special hike as you hike through many different terrains. Every turn of the corner brings new excitement. This traversing trail is a moderate jaunt that branches off from the Flattop Mountain Trail about 1.4 miles from Bear Lake. When you emerge from the trees, youíll be enraptured by the views of Millís Mountain and Mount Wuh, and the high mountain splendor of Odessa. Three 12,000-foot peaks and the impressive Odessa Gorge will be your reward upon arrival at Odessa Lake. You will hike by waterfalls and hike over cliff ledges. Odessa Lake and Fern Lake are spectacular places to see. Arch Rocks, which probably fell from the cliffs above rather than being deposited by retreating glaciers, are interesting megaliths along the trail. The Pool is a wide spot where a bridge crosses the Big Thompson River, providing a sturdy platform for viewing swirling patterns of white water.
